Annual ‘Coffee with the Inspectors’ Set for March 16Free Access

Springtime weather cranks up activity in construction and remodeling, and local officials want to help the industry be better prepared.

Emmet County Department of Planning, Zoning and Construction Resources (PZCR) is resuming its annual “Coffee with the Inspectors” at the county fairgrounds community center Wednesday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The yearly event is free and open to the public.

“There are always new people entering the construction field each year and others that are new to the area, so we like to hold this event each spring to introduce them to our inspectors and give them an overview of the resources available to them,” said Martin Van Berlo, building department director.

This year’s program will kick off with an introduction of the building department’s staff and inspectors. The PZCR staff will outline the various forms and documents available online at the county’s website as well as the department’s policies and procedures. Then, the inspectors will open up a discussion with those attending and answer any questions.

Free coffee and donuts will be available while the attendees listen to the presentation and interact with the inspectors.

Specific questions or inquiries about particular subjects that attendees would like to see addressed at the event are always welcome to be submitted ahead of the event and can be sent to Van Berlo at mvanberlo@emmetcounty.org.

In order to plan effectively, event organizers encourage those who plan to attend to RSVP by March 11 via email to tjohnson@emmetcounty.org or by calling (231) 348-1735.
